If you are anything like me, you find yourself frequenting the mall (or any available shopping vicinity for that matter) far more often than you should. It's a proven fact that getting something new increases our Dopamine Levels, (your natural happy chemicals) leading us to feel more happy. Sounds pretty harmless right?
The problem with this is that this "happiness" isn't lasting. Before you know it, that awesome purchase you made is now  last week's news and the "new and improved" version is available. There will ALWAYS be something new claiming that it's bigger and better than what you already have.
If we are basing our happiness on material things, we will never be truly happy.
"...let us be therewith content." 1 Timothy 6:8
This scripture (whole chapter actually) illustrates my point perfectly. The best way to find true joy is by being content with what we already have and realizing just how blessed we actually are. Stop comparing, stop wishing for more, and strive to be content with what you have already been blessed with. Theodore Roosevelt said it best, "Comparison is the thief of joy." This week on our quest in becoming more like Christ, strive to recognize all that you are blessed with and instead of longing for more of what you don't need, work on being content with what you already have.
