WORTH EMULATING 09: LOVE

Since today is Mother's Day, I felt it would be fitting to share a just a few of the things I have learned from my own mother that can help us all to become more like Christ.
The first attribute that my mother always taught me was the importance of KINDNESS.
I know I have written more than enough posts on this topic but it is one that is very important to me. My mother always taught and expected me to be kind to others, regardless of how they treated me. Even as a young child my mom would always ask my teachers if I was nice. She was far less concerned about my score on a spelling test, the most important thing to her was knowing that I was kind to others. This is one of the greatest Christlike attributes that my mother possesses and I am always striving to have.
The Second Christlike attribute that my mother has taught me is FAITH.
My mother has one of, if not the strongest testimonies in our Heavenly Father that I have ever known. It is very apparent that He is her very best friend. She has unwavering Faith in Him and in His timing. I have always looked up to my mother for the relationship she has with Heavenly Father. She taught me at a very young age to pray and turn to him for guidance and comfort. She taught me to have faith in Him and to always "Trust in the Lord." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
The third Christlike attribute is LOVE.
Anyone who knows my mother knows that she is quite possibly the most loving human being on Earth. She always makes sure to express her love to those around her. All my life my mom has told me, "All we have to do is love." We will not be judged on how much others love us, but rather on how much we loved others. Christ showed His infinite love for us when he gave His life so we could be saved.
I hope this Mother's Day you are able to reflect not only on your own mother but all the strong women who have been examples in your life. I am so grateful for my incredible Grandmas who raised my parents to be the people they are today. I am so blessed to have the aunts, cousins, sister, and friends who have been examples to me and helped to show me the kind of woman I want to become. I hope today, whatever your status; mother, daughter, niece, friend, cousin... that you can feel of your divine identity and worth as a daughter of God.
