THE UP PROJECT

 photo Untitled-1-2.jpg

I work a high school as a Prevention Specialist / Youth Advocate. I work primarily with at risk youth. I came up with this idea to help the students set goals for themselves as well as look for and notice the positive things in each day. I am curious to see if they consistently fill this sheet out each week, if their overall happiness and confidence will improve.
All they are required to do is set one goal they can achieve that day, find one positive aspect about the day, and do one kind thing for someone else.
  • The GOAL can be as simple as attending all their classes or making their bed. It doesn't matter what the goal is, it just has to be something they can achieve to feel accomplished.
  • The POSITIVE can be as small as someone smiled at them in the hall or as big as that they passed their test. Again, it doesn't matter as long as they can find at least one thing to be happy about that occurred during the day.
  • The KINDNESS only requires them to think outside themselves and do something for someone else. A simple compliment would work.
The little boxes under each day titled "Happiness" and "Confidence" are where you rate yourself on a scale from 1-10. 1 being not happy/confident at all, 10 being extremely happy/confident.
I am going to be doing this project along with my students and thought it might be fun to share with you all as well. I truly believe that if you put your all into this simple project you will notice a change in your overall happiness and confidence. Day by day, as you are accomplishing your goals, noticing the good in each day, and striving to be kind to others, your ratings will begin to move "UP".
Let us know how the "UP" project works for you! We would love to hear about your experiences!
